HTC One M9 (2015) – A Premium Smartphone with Distinctive Design and Powerful Performance
The HTC One M9, introduced in 2015, was the successor to HTC’s critically acclaimed One M8. It carried forward many of the design elements and features that made its predecessor popular while introducing improvements in performance, camera capabilities, and software.
Design – A Classic Unibody Metal Build
One of the standout features of the HTC One M9 was its premium design. The device featured a unibody metal construction with a brushed aluminum finish, giving it a premium look and feel. The metal body not only provided durability but also a sense of luxury that set it apart from plastic-clad competitors.
The device maintained the iconic front-facing BoomSound speakers, which delivered impressive audio quality for media consumption and gaming. The placement of the speakers at the top and bottom of the front panel contributed to the symmetrical design and enhanced the overall audio experience.
Display – Full HD Super LCD3
The HTC One M9 featured a 5-inch Super LCD3 display with a Full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) resolution. While it didn’t adopt the trend of higher Quad HD resolutions seen in some flagship competitors, the Full HD display offered sharp and vibrant visuals with accurate color reproduction. The Super LCD3 technology ensured good outdoor visibility and wide viewing angles.
HTC’s Sense UI allowed users to customize the display settings, including color temperature and font size, to tailor the visual experience to their preferences.
Camera – Enhanced Imaging
The camera was an area of notable improvement over its predecessor. The HTC One M9 featured a 20-megapixel rear camera with a sapphire cover lens and an f/2.2 aperture. This upgrade aimed to address one of the criticisms of the One M8, which had a lower-resolution camera.

The HTC One M9 was powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, paired with 3GB of RAM. This combination provided robust performance, allowing for smooth multitasking and efficient handling of demanding apps and games.
The device ran HTC’s Sense UI 7.0 on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop (later receiving updates to newer Android versions). Sense UI was known for its clean and visually appealing design, as well as its customization options. It included features like BlinkFeed, which aggregated news and social media updates on the home screen, and HTC Themes for personalized visual styles.
Battery Life and Storage
The One M9 featured a non-removable 2840mAh battery, which, while not the largest in its class, offered respectable battery life for a day of typical use. The device also supported fast charging, allowing users to replenish the battery quickly.
In terms of storage, the One M9 came with 32GB of internal storage, which could be expanded further with a microSD card, providing ample space for apps, media, and files.
